The definition of 'ethics' is 'a theory
or system of moral conduct and/or values'. To be ethical is to live by
those values and that is what we are trying to do here at Ecoknits.
We believe that we have a responsibility to care for ourselves, for
others and for our environment and planet. Our values dictate that we
source our products, at the very least, from reputable companies who
use sustainable materials and pay fair wages to their employees.
|

However, we intend on going one step further. Our aim is to fill our
shop with gorgeous yarns and fine needles from the best ethical sources
we can find. Fine alpaca from small co-operatives that provide vital
income for their workers, naturally hand dyed British wool from small
independent British businesses, organic cotton from Holland, soft wool
from the highlands of Peru, knitting needles and crochet hooks from
sustainably managed birch forests... You'll find all this and more
inside the shop.
|
In addition, to offset the CO2 generated by buying yarn that is flown in from Peru, at the end of each year, we intend on contributing to a Carbon Offset Provider that supports projects in the UK. More details coming soon!
