Artesano are a truly fair trade, ethical company. Their main suppliers were based in Bolivia, one of the poorest countries in South America and so they were very careful to work with co-operatives and companies that have a good record of looking after the people that work for them.
We stock their range of gorgeous space-dyed Hummingbird DK Sock Yarn and the deliciously soft 100% Alpaca superfine DK. With a bit of luck we'll also be offering the sumptuous Artesano Aran in the New Year.
Hummingbird DK is perfect for the ultimate in luxury socks - 100% pure squooshy alpaca from Peru.
It's DK weight, and knits to a gauge of 22 stitches and 30 rows to 4 inches (10cm) on 4mm needles. There are approx 300m in each fat 150g skein. Pairs up beautifully with our wooden double pointed needles. Don't forget to check out the patterns at the bottom of the page!

Artesano DK 100% Superfine Alpaca
Artesano DK is a wonderful soft, versatile yarn that knits up into a truly beautiful fabric. There are three distinct colour groups available - bright rich shades of a South American persuasion, delicate heathered flower colours and a selection of delicious natural colours named after a host of sweet treats. 22st and 30 rows to 10cm/4", 109yards/100m to each 50g ball. Knits to the same gauge as Hummingbird, so the patterns are interchangeable.

Patterns are £2.50 and are printed on A3 folded glossy paper.
